PEAK OIL

GEERT GOIRIS

For the 7th PhotoSaintGermain festival, Rubis Mécénat and the Frac Normandie Rouen are presenting a new display of the Peak Oil series commissioned from Geert Goiris.

Peak Oil is the title of a large scale photographic commission to the Belgian artist Geert Goiris by the Frac Normandie Rouen and Rubis Mécénat. Throughout the year of 2017, the Belgian artist Geert Goiris visited 12 industrial sites of Rubis Terminal (subsidiary of the Rubis Group), covering all depots in Europe.
The aim of the project has been to develop a photographic series on the contemporary industrial landscape. Exploring the title Peak Oil, the artist adopted an unusual, simultaneously cinematic and allusive approach in order to observe how these sites, which are not usually accessible, relate to their environment.
