Rubis Mécénat celebrates 15 years of support for contemporary creation

SUPPORT FOR ARTISTIC CREATION – RUBIS MÉCÉNAT PRIZE Rémi Marcel’s exhibition opens next week! A graduate of the @beauxartsparis in 2026, Rémi Marcel imagines installations that maintain a close relationship with the living world, where everything is material. His artistic approach is steeped in his initial as a pastry cook, and in his interest in farming practices. He works in particular with seeds, plants and vegetables, which become elements of connection through drawing, sculpture, installation and poetic writing. For his “Carte Blanche” at @paroissesainteustache, the 2026 Rubis Mécénat Prize laureate explores our relationship with the living world through two half-columns positioned on the north and south sides of the church. One houses a self-contained ecosystem in which wheat will germinate throughout the exhibition; the other acts as its frozen imprint. Save the date! 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Forty-seventh Samsara – Yemi Awosile On the occasion of the 2023 Art & Industry triennial, Rubis Mécénat supported British artist and textile designer Yemi Awosile to create two monumental textile artworks to cover the façade of the Frac Grand Large – Hauts-de-France museum in Dunkirk, until January 2026. As an artist and designer, Yemi Awosile drew inspiration from the geometric designs found in the archives of the textile factories of Roubaix. The fabrics represent living archives, a record of our times, while also addressing the heritage that is being constantly passed on through the objects and materials that surround us, and exploring the relationship between the United Kingdom and France through their unique history of textile. SUPPORT FOR ARTISTIC CREATION - THANKSFORNOTHING Rubis Mécénat is pleased to support @thanksfor.nothing’s festival “Gestes Collectifs”, a free event dedicated to contemporary creation, taking place from 17 to 20 September 2026 at the site of the former La Rochefoucauld hospital in Paris. This support is a continuation of Rubis Mécénat’s partnership with @thanksfor.nothing, which began in 2025 through its support of the “Artworks for Solidarity workshops”, an ongoing programme bringing artists and audiences with limited access to culture together through co-creation. As part of the festival’s art parcours, Liselor Perez (@iszor)’s “Automne 004”, created as part of the 2025 Rubis Mécénat Prize, and @fannyallie’s “The Glowing Homeless”, exhibited by Rubis Mécénat at Saint-Eustache in 2024, will be presented alongside works by Judy Chicago, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Marina De Caro. Rubis Mécénat is also supporting a co-creation workshop led by artist @stephanethidet with school groups and beneficiaries of local non-profit organisations. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Daleside – Lindokuhle Sobekwa & Cyprien Clément-Delmas Between 2015 and 2020, with the support of Rubis Mécénat, the French photographer Cyprien Clément-Delmas and the South African photographer Lindokuhle Sobekwa developed photographic work documenting Daleside, an Afrikaner suburb south-east of Johannesburg. Daleside is a small isolated Afrikaner town in South Africa’s Gauteng province. Its white population remains inward-looking, forgotten in an old “separate development” project. For five years, the two explored this white enclave together and formed a dialogue through photographs. The two photographers painted a portrait of Daleside, approached the places and the inhabitants, mostly minors or precarious, awakening their dreams or revealing their distress. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Ses Os, Bones, Un Endroit – Tania Mouraud On the occasion of the first Art & Industrie triennale in Dunkirk (2019), Rubis Mécénat, in association with the Frac Grand Large - Hauts-de-France @fracgrandlarge, commissioned @tania.mouraud to produce three original monumental works for the Rubis Terminal site in the Port of Dunkirk and on a city-centre façade. The two tanks featured a quotation from Shakespeare’s Tempest, in French and English: Of his bones are coral made. Those are pearls that were his eyes. In the City, the Frech artist has chosen a sentence tailored to the site: Un endroit pour rêver dans chaque ville, espace-éternité. This gigantic texts was turn into an abstract, geometric decor that highlights the architecture. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Corrosion – Jordan Beal In 2025, Jordan Beal presented « Corrosion », a series developed as part of the first edition of the grant to support contemporary French Caribbean and Amazonian creation launched by Rubis Mécénat, unRepresented by @approcheparis and @lastationculturelle. Working at the intersection of image and photography, Jordan Beal deliberately damages his negatives and prints with corrosive substances, particularly seawater. Through this process, he explores the notions of horizon, relationship, and “islandness”, while questioning the boundaries between reality and imagination. Created by Rubis Mécénat in partnership with @lastationculturelle and unRepresented by @approcheparis, the grant enabled Jordan Beal to present his work at the unRepresented salon in Paris and benefit from a tailor-made programme of professional meetings to support the development of his artistic career. The initiative aims to strengthen the visibility and mobility of artists from the French Caribbean and Amazonian territories and support the dynamism of their contemporary art scenes. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS L’Orée – Kid Kréol & Boogie After a call for projects launched in 2017, the collective Kid Kréol & Boogie @kidkreol.boogie created a monumental work installed permanently at La Société Réunionnaise de Produits Pétroliers (SRPP) depot in Le Port, Réunion. L’Orée is a mural painting on the water tank located at the entrance to the depot, which also extends along the adjacent 48m wall. The viewer transported into an imaginary landscape, betwenn the sea and mountain terrain of Réunion. This fresco depicts vegetation, roots and rocks of this magical island. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Furtherance – Leonora Hamill In 2014, Rubis Mécénat invited Franco-British artist Leonora Hamill to create Furtherance, a site-specific video installation for the Church of Saint-Eustache. Shot on 35mm, the work weaves together traces of everyday activities within the church, unusual architectural points of view and a live stag wandering through the space. Leonora Hamill asked some twenty performers to retrace the steps of the various occupants of the church: priests, parishioners, tourists, soup-kitchen volunteers and their ‘guests’ thereby transcribing the collective energy specific to this place of worship. Created with cinematographer Ghasem Ebrahimian, the installation was projected onto the eight windows of the church’s South Door, visible from both inside and outside the building. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Brise du rouge soleil – Joël Andrianomearisoa In 2021, the Centre des monuments nationaux (@lecmn) in association with Rubis Mécénat, invited Joël Andrianomearisoa (@joelandria) to take over the Towers and Ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, a medieval city in the south of France. Inspired by the history of the former Mediterranean port, the landscapes of the Camargue and the writings of Malagasy poet Maurice Ramarozaka, “Brise du rouge soleil” unfolded across the monument through textile works, sculptures and metal structures, creating a poetic dialogue between contemporary creation and heritage. OF SOUL AND JOY – SOUTH AFRICA For the third consecutive year, @ofsoulandjoy has partnered with @cinema_tak3 as part of @lecinemacentansdejeunesse_ccaj’s international film education programme. Following several weeks of workshops, @ofsoulandjoy students presented their short film “Anywhere But Here” at the festival held in Germany. Entirely written and directly by them, the film reflects their voices, stories and creative vision. For three days, participants from around the world gathered with their teachers and filmmakers to share experiences, exchange ideas and discover the films produced throughout the programme, all showcased during the festival. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS Rubis Mécénat Prize – Dhewadi Hadjab In 2021, for the first edition of the Rubis Mécénat Prize in partnership with @beauxartsparis, artist @dhewadi_hadjab presented a monumental diptych at the Church of Saint-Eustache, with curatorial support from @gaelcharbau. Created specifically for the church, the two paintings depict inverted female bodies balancing unstable prie-dieux. Drawing on both photography and painting, Dhewadi Hadjab explores the transformation of the body and its capacity to transcend physical constraints, leaving space for multiple interpretations. 15 YEARS IN 15 PROJECTS The Melody of Speech – Benjamin Loyauté To mark the 20th anniversary of the Nuit Blanche event in 2022, Rubis Mécénat invited artist @benjaminloyauté to take to the Saint-Eustache church in Paris for a special performance. The Melody of Speech unfolds like a contemporary fable, rooted in the UN’s World Charter for Nature, which celebrated 40 years of existence in 2022. The performance relocates our attention and imagines a dubplate, a psalm that is both frank and poetic sometimes delivered at light speed, oen mixed with punk surrealism and invisible street music, chiseled like his sculptures of meditations composed of signs, traces of birds or sacred germinations.
